The Black Russian

It has been another long week at work and I am really  looking forward to this weekend, but I am a little apprehensive too.  Debbie and I, along with one of my best friends, Dayna, are running the Seawheeze (Lululemon) Half-Marathon tomorrow.  So I think we all are a little nervous and excited about it but Im looking forward to it being over and being able to eat and drink whatever I want because of all the calories I burn on our run 😉 Debbie is the only one of us who has run a full 22kms so far so Dayna and I on the other hand are sure we can do it, but it hasn’t been proven yet.

So… there will be no cocktails for us this Cocktail Friday, but come Saturday, Debbie and I plan to hit a few Vancouver patios after the run.

For all the rest of you out there who are finishing work for the week and going home for a well-deserved cocktail this evening, do we have a doozie for you!

Black Russian

Wednesday we posted the Grilled Pizzas that we made on our awesome camping weekend last weekend, and today we thought we would share with you Kevin and Marks favorite camping cocktail…

The Black Russian!

Here is a little background information… Kevin and Mark have a little bromance thing going on. I think they actually fell in love before Kevin and I did. They are two peas in a pod, as they say, and they share a love of all things motorized such as snowmobiling and quading. They love to compete with each other (I even saw them measure their trailers to see whos was bigger). They also love camping, work, talking about doing crazy things, doing crazy things, a good party, and…

The two of them usually prefer beer over cocktails, but even the most hardcore drinkers of beer can get tired of the same old. And when Kevin and Mark do, they like to have one of these.
This cocktail is temptingly sweet and smooth, but its not for the faint of heart and only the most seasoned vodka drinkers should attempt a second. I supposed this also depends on the measure you use to make your drink. They may be hard, but these drinks are very simple to make.

Half Vodka, half Kahlua. It’s a simple equation.  Heres another equation:

Kevin and Mark + Vokda and Kahlua = Fun and Danger

I have to say though, these aren’t just for the boys. I enjoy one from time to time too. I also like suggesting that Mark and Kevin have one because they always say yes and its always fun to watch what ensues.

Black Russian

The only thing about bringing up the Black Russian while camping or on any other weekend, is that Debbie likes a little bit of Kahlua in her coffee on the weekends and she often finds that the boys have emptied the bottle. Then she gets annoyed.  Last weekend though, she wised up and  at the first mention of a Black Russian, she took off into the trailer, poured some kahula into a bottle and hid it up in the cupboard.
Problem solved!
