Happy Cocktail Friday!
I forgot to give you an update on our run last weekend!
We did awesome and are very proud of ourselves. We completed the 21.1 kms together and are really proud of our time. We did it in 2 hours and 10 mins! That’s pretty good for a first half-marathon I think. Kevin and Daynas man, Nick saw us off at the start and met us at the finish line. What a couple of sweethearts 🙂 We were pretty tired and sore afterwards, but went to Chambar for brunch and a well-deserved Ceaser! Well Debbie had her Ceaser that she has been craving and I had a Mojito. Poor Dayna had to work an 8 hour shift after so no drinks for her… Boooo (Like the Dahlias from my garden?!) That night, Kevin and I went for dinner in Yaletown where he ordered a Moscow Mule. I had never had one of those before so I had to have a sip. Well, I actually always have to have a sip, or a bite, of anything he has. He now knows this about me and affectionately calls me “the Taste-Tester”. Cuz I am. Anyways, the Mule… Its delicious and super refreshing! I cant believe that I had never tried one before. Its got ginger and lime and a hint of sweetness. It reminds me of a Mojito, only more gingery lol. I asked the bartender what the ingredients were and made a mental note to try one at home. Monday evening, Dayna and Liane came over for dinner and a hot tub and we decided to try making Moscow Mules. Dayna was telling us that apparently these are supposed to be served in copper mugs. I googled it and sure enough, pictures of copper cups came up when I searched images for the drink. Maybe ill have to get some and give it a shot, but until then, my plain old glasses are going to have to do. We spruced it up a bit though. I made ginger infused simple syrup and we grated a little fresh ginger on top. Next time, I might muddle some mint in there too, although that would be more of a ginger mojito. Liane was a little wary at first because of the ginger beer. She hates beer, but after we reassured her that ginger beer tastes nothing like regular beer, she was game to give it a try. They turned out every bit as good, or better might I say, than the one Kevin had Saturday night. Kevins coming home tonight from a week away for work so Im going to make him one of these when I get home! Its Cocktail Friday after all!
